Brand System: a complete branding system for your brand

We turn the strategy into an identity - visual system, voice and the rules that hold them together.

What it is like for you

This is where you start to see your brand. We show the identity living in real situations - your website, your documents, your packaging - so you judge it in context, not on a blank page.

Brand System is where the strategy becomes visible. We design the identity - the visual system, the voice and the rules that hold them together - so the brand can be recognised and applied consistently by anyone who touches it.

At a glance

  • Also known as: branding system, brand identity system

What is a brand system?

A brand system is the complete set of elements and rules that make a brand recognisable wherever it appears. It is not only the logo: it includes the colours, typography, imagery, tone of voice, templates and the principles that decide how they are combined. It is also called a branding system or a brand identity system.

The difference with a logo or a folder of brand assets is that a system is designed to be used by many people, in many formats, for years - including situations nobody has thought of yet.

What we create

  • Visual identity. Logo, colour, typography, imagery and the graphic elements that make the brand recognisable.
  • Verbal identity. Tone of voice, key messages and naming principles where needed.
  • Brand guidelines. The rules and examples your team and suppliers need to apply the brand correctly.
  • Templates and key applications. Presentations, documents and the everyday formats your team uses, so the system is ready to work from day one.

Brand system vs visual identity vs brand guidelines

  • Visual identity: how the brand looks - logo, colour, typography, imagery.
  • Brand guidelines: the document that explains how to use the identity correctly.
  • Brand system: the whole - visual and verbal identity, rules and tools - designed so the brand stays consistent as the business grows.

Signs of a good brand system

  • It is recognisable even without the logo.
  • A new designer or supplier can produce something on-brand from the guidelines alone.
  • It works across sizes, channels and languages.
  • It leaves room for variety without losing consistency.
  • It expresses the positioning, not only current taste.

Branding and rebranding

For a new brand, the system is designed from scratch and built for where the business is going, not only where it starts. In a rebrand, we identify the traits that carry the company's reputation and give them an updated form, so long-standing customers still recognise it.

What you get

A complete brand system, ready to be rolled out across every touchpoint in the next phase.

Frequently asked questions

Is a brand system the same as a logo?

No. The logo is one element of the system. A brand system also covers colour, typography, imagery, voice and the rules that hold them together.

What is the difference between a brand system and brand guidelines?

The guidelines document the system. The system is the identity itself and the logic behind it; the guidelines explain how to use it.

Do we need a brand strategy first?

Yes. A brand system expresses a positioning. Without a clear Brand Strategy, the design tends to follow taste rather than decisions.
